Biography

Rachana A. Kulkarni, MD, FACC, MBA, CPE, FASPC
Cardiologist | Preventive Cardiology Leader | Women’s Heart Health Advocate

Dr. Rachana A. Kulkarni is a board-certified cardiologist with subspecialty certification in Nuclear Cardiology and more than two decades of clinical and leadership experience. She joined Medicor Cardiology in 1998 and is a Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Preventive Cardiology.

Dr. Kulkarni completed her internal medicine and cardiology training at Rutgers–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She earned a Healthcare Executive MBA from Auburn University and completed a Certification in Management Excellence at Harvard Business School, reflecting her commitment to clinical excellence and healthcare leadership.
She currently serves as Regional Director of Cardiovascular Services for RWJBarnabas Health and Director of Women’s Cardiac Services, where she leads initiatives focused on advancing cardiovascular care and outcomes for women. Previously, Dr. Kulkarni served as Chief of Cardiology and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. She is also a past President of the American Heart Association of New Jersey.

Dr. Kulkarni’s clinical and academic interests center on Preventive Cardiology and heart disease in women. She has dedicated her career to improving awareness, early detection, and prevention of cardiovascular disease in women and has delivered numerous educational lectures and seminars at national and international forums. She is a contributing author to cardiology textbooks with a focus on women’s cardiovascular health.

Her leadership and impact have been recognized through numerous prestigious honors, including:

  • Public Health Hero of New Jersey, for advancing heart care and promoting statewide cardiovascular health

Dr. Kulkarni has been consistently recognized as a Top Doctor and Top Cardiologist for multiple consecutive years and is widely regarded by her peers as one of New Jersey’s leading cardiologists and among the Best Doctors for Women. She has also been recognized as a Top Cardiologist by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals.

Beyond her clinical and academic roles, Dr. Kulkarni serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of New Jersey AAPI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) and as Vice Chair of Akshaya Patra USA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing education for underprivileged children.
