Testing & Procedures
Holter monitoring is a noninvasive diagnostic test that continuously records your heart’s electrical activity, usually over a 24–72 hour period. This extended monitoring helps detect irregular rhythms that may not appear during a standard EKG. Medicor Cardiology offers comprehensive Holter services to evaluate symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, or fainting.
Overview
A Holter monitor is a portable EKG device worn for one to three days to record your heart’s activity around the clock. Small electrodes are placed on the chest and connected to a lightweight recording unit that you wear as you go about normal daily activities.
The test helps your cardiologist identify abnormal rhythms, skipped beats, or other electrical irregularities that may cause symptoms not captured in a brief in-office EKG.
Your care team will attach several small electrodes to your chest with adhesive patches and connect them to a compact recorder. You’ll be asked to keep a simple activity and symptom log while wearing the monitor.
After your monitoring period is complete, the device is returned to the office where your recorded data is analyzed and reviewed by your physician. This information helps determine whether further evaluation or treatment is needed.
