Testing & Procedures
Medicor Cardiology’s Anticoagulation Clinic provides specialized monitoring for patients prescribed Coumadin (warfarin) therapy. Our goal is to ensure safe, effective blood thinning while minimizing the risk of complications. Patients receive ongoing guidance from trained nurses and physicians who adjust medication based on precise INR (International Normalized Ratio) results.
Overview
Anticoagulation therapy requires close, consistent monitoring to keep blood clotting within a safe range. Our clinic is designed to provide accurate INR testing and medication adjustment for patients taking Coumadin.
Specially trained Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work under physician supervision to evaluate test results, discuss your progress, and ensure your dosage is always at the correct level.
Our Approach
Patients enrolled in the clinic are monitored on a regular schedule. Our nurses are trained in:
The mechanisms of coagulation
The pharmacology of Coumadin
Recognizing risk factors and contraindications
Adjusting medication based on established clinical protocols
In addition, Medicor partners with Alere Home Monitoring to offer eligible patients the option to check their INR levels conveniently at home. Your physician or Coumadin nurse will help determine whether home testing is appropriate for you.
