Physician Biography

Ashok A. Patel, MD, FACC, has been Medicor’s pre-eminent electrophysiologist since joining the practice in 2001.  He completed his Fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Lahey Clinic of Tufts University School of Medicine in Burlington, MA following a Cardiology Fellowship at Yale University’s Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut and Harvard University’s Preventive Cardiology Fellowship at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury, MA.  He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.

Dr. Patel completed his internal medicine residency and was Chief Resident at UMDNJ-Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ after graduating from the B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, India.  He is currently a member of the medical staff at Somerset Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Morristown Medical Center.

At Medicor Cardiology, Dr. Patel directs the Arrythmia Service, which includes the diagnosis of arrhythmias and the surgical insertion of pacemakers and automatic implantable defibrillators (AICD), along with follow-up care.  He resides in Somerset County with his wife and twin daughters.
